HENRY SANMI MAKINDE
MEASUREMENT SCIENTIST AND PSYCHOMETRICIAN
Unlocking the unseen narratives within data.
My name is Henry Sanmi Makinde, a measurement scientist and AI researcher passionate about making learning and assessment smarter and more accessible. My strength lies in blending traditional psychometric methods with modern AI, giving me a unique advantage in shaping the future of educational measurement. I also founded DoctorAI Academy, a platform designed to make AI learning simple, practical, and accessible, "a one-stop shop for everything AI".
My career began in Nigeria, where I studied Statistics and worked in data science and market research. Over time, I transitioned into educational measurement, developing expertise in psychometrics Classical Test Theory (CTT), Item Response Theory (IRT), equating, and hierarchical linear modeling. In 2023 I changed trajectory into Computational Psychometrics, this foundation has allowed me to explore how artificial intelligence can responsibly transform assessment.
Today, I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Educational Research Methodology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. My dissertation focuses on automatic item generation using large language models (LLMs) and multi-stage agentic systems, pioneering work that connects rigorous test development approaches with cutting-edge AI innovations.
Writing my dissertation on automatic item generation using large language models and agentic systems.
Currently working with PAEA through my Graduate Assistantship, contributing to psychometric analyses, test development, and AI applications in assessment.
